In the 1940s and ’50s angled cupboards with sliding doors became the norm in Swedish kitchens. More room up top without getting in the way of the countertop and sink below. They are the epitome of modern Scandinavian design — simple, efficient, beautiful — and one of the first things we noticed when we arrived at Karin and Peter’s flat. This photo was taken at the Stockholm City museum, where there is an excellent exhibition on home design in Sweden from 1900 to 2010.
